FAQ
Q) Does the blower on the inflatable need to be running all the time?
A) Yes. The inflatable will deflate if the blower is turned off.
Q) Can the moon jump be used in the rain?
A) No. The inflatable blower is not designed to be operated in the
rain. If it starts raining, please turn off the blower (and generator
if also rented) and unplug the blower, allow the inflatable to deflate and cover with a staked tarp provided.
Q) Do I need an attendant?
A) There must ALWAYS be someone supervising the inflatable. This can be
any adult who has been instructed on how to supervise and what to watch
for. Our trained delivery driver will provide this instruction to you
and anyone else you wish when we set up the inflatable. You must ensure
to limit the amount of children/adults jumping per the limitations of
the particular inflatable you are renting. You can also reference the
products page and note the limits for each type of inflatable. Harvard
Happy Hop LLC can provide a dedicated attendant for $20.00/hour for
your event. **Commercial renters - Illinois State Law requires a full
time attendant/operator for each inflatable during operation.
Q) Is there an age limit? A) No there isn’t! Inflatables
are hopping fun for all ages! Obviously, if you have a medical
condition that would preclude you from this fun form of exercise, you
should consult your physician for advise. This is a limit on the number
participants at any given time dependent upon age groups.
Q) Can I hold my event at a park?
A) Yes. However, certain permits or licenses may be required depending
on where you wish to hold your event. You will need to check with your
local municipality to ensure you have all of the required documents.
You will likely need to provide proof of insurance. Harvard Happy Hop
LLC carries commercial Liability insurance and for an additional fee as
charged by our insurance company, your organization can be named as
additionally insured to meet this requirement. If your event is open to
the general public, the State of Illinois requires that the inflatable
be inspected by the Illinois Department of Labor – Carnival and
Amusement Ride Inspection Division. (All of our inflatables have been
inspected and carry permits to be used in public events/venues).
Additionally, YOU MUST have a full time attendant/operator for each
inflatable. We can provide an attendant for $20/hour.
Q) Are you insured?
A) Yes. Harvard Happy Hop LLC carries liability insurance on all of our
rentals. If your event needs “Proof of Insurance”, we can supply this
documentation. If you required to be named as additionally insured, we
can supply this for an additional $25.00 fee.
Q) Do you require a deposit?
A) Yes. A $50.00 deposit is required at the time you reserve an
inflatable. This deposit will be applied to the cost of the rental. The
balance can be paid at any time, but must be paid in full at the time
of setting up of the inflatable. The deposit is only refundable if you
cancel your reservation no less than 10 days prior to your scheduled
date of rental. Please see Cancellations for more info.
Q) Can I pick up the inflatable and return when our party is over? A)
No. We will deliver your inflatable, set-it up, come back after, and
take it down. This is all included in the rental fee. Most importantly
of which, we want to ensure that the inflatable is placed in a safe
area and is properly anchored so that it is safe for you to enjoy.
Q) What can’t be taken into/onto the inflatables?
A) Here is a quick list of prohibited items.
• No sharp objects
• No visible metal zippers
• No Shoes
• No food or drink of any kind
• No metal belt buckles
• NO SILLY STRING (Silly String will cause serious damage to the unit and the renter will be fined $1000.00.)
• No sand
Q) Can the inflatable be set-up on concrete or asphalt?
A) Yes. However, we HIGHLY recommend setting up on grass if at all
possible. Grass is more forgiving to a person who might lose their
footing and fall when entering or exiting an inflatable. Grass would be
more forgiving than a hard surface like concrete. Additionally, hard
surfaces require us to secure the inflatable with heavy weights.
Therefore, there is an added $25.00 charge to set up on a hard surface.
Q) How much room will I need?
A) Generally, you should have 10 feet of clearance around the perimeter
of the inflatable. As each inflatable is of different size, please
refer to the pricing page for dimensions.
Q) What are the power requirements? A) You must have a
115V VAC, 20 amp dedicated circuit electrical outlet within 50 feet to
provide power to the blower. No power? See next question.
Q) Can we rent a generator? A) Yes. We have generators
available – see our pricing page. The generator comes with a full tank
of gas which will run the generator for ~8 hours.
Q) What if I have never used a generator before? A) Our
trained driver explain to you how to operate, and shut down the
generator, go over all of the safety requirements, and show you how to
operate the dedicated fire extinguisher that accompanies each generator
rental in case for some reason there is a fire.
Q) Does the ground where the inflatable will be set up have to be level?
A) Yes. We will not set-up on a hill as it would be unsafe.
Q) How old are your inflatables?
A) All of our inflatables were manufactured to our order NEW in 2007 by a US manufacturer.
Q) How far in advance do I really need to make my reservation?
A) Our inflatables are available first come, first serve. By placing
your deposit, you will have reserved the inflatable of your choice for
the date/time you provided. Obviously, the closer to the date you need,
the less likely there will be availability. We recommend you make your
reservation as soon as you know the date to insure availability. It is
not common for inflatables to be reserved several weeks, and
occasionally a few months in advance. If you need an inflatable around
a National Holiday or local festival, we suggest you call as soon as
possible, as these are very popular dates, eg, Memorial Day, Harvard
Milk Days, 4th of July, Labor Day.
Q) Do you upgrade your units? A) We are continuously
adding additional inflatables to our portfolio as we are able to
reinvest. Additional inventory means more availability for you! Let us
know if there is something you wish we would add.
Q) How long are your rental periods? A) Our standard
rental periods are 4 hours and 8 hours. If you require more time,
please contact us for applicable pricing. Note: We require a 4 hour
minimum rental charge for all rentals.
Q) Is there a delivery charge and set-up fee? A) Set-up
and take down is included in every rental. Delivery is free within our
local delivery zone (15 mile radius of Harvard, IL. Deliveries outside
of our local delivery zone will require an additional fee
Q) What is required of the area where we want to set-up the inflatable?
A) You should ensure your area meets the requirements PRIOR to making your reservation. The following is required for each inflatable: •
Flat and level set-up area. Grass preferred. Hard surface is a $25
additional fee. You must call JULIE (Joint Utility Locating Information
for Excavators) at 800-892-0123 to have the area marked prior to
delivery. This is a FREE service. Please call several days ahead, as it
usually takes a few days for all of the utilities to come out and mark
their lines/pipes. The stakes used to secure the inflatables are up to
40” long. We do not want to hit any of your utility lines when setting
up the inflatable. If you have an irrigation system, you must insure it
will not come on during your rental and ensure that it is marked so we
don’t damage it.
• Free of mud. We will not set up in mud, dirt, sand, or gravel.
• Area must be free from overhead branches, power lines, telephone lines, and overhangs.
• Area must be free of all animal droppings, sticks, rocks, debris, etc.
• A minimum of 10 feet clearance around the entire inflatable. If you
are setting up indoors, you need to ensure that there is sufficient
height and space including area around the perimeter of the inflatable.
Please have the ceiling height available when reserving.
• Within 50 feet of power source.
• Power source: 115V, with a 15 amp dedicated circuit with a GFCI outlet (see next question).
Q) What if I don’t have a 15 amp dedicated circuit with a GFCI outlet?
A) You will need to rent a generator. The blower will draw a large amount of current on start-up.
Q) Why do I specifically need a dedicated 15 amp outlet with GFCI?
A) The blower motor operates with electrical current. Amperage (Amps
for short) is the measurement of the amount of current that a circuit
can handle. The motor on the blower requires a large amount of amps to
start. Ever notice a light dim when your refrigerator compressor came
on? This happens because the compressor requires a lot of current
(amps) to start. When it starts, it draws the current it needs, robbing
the light (causing it to dim) of the current it needs to shine without
dimming. The same is true for the motor of the blower. By using a
dedicated circuit, we ensure that all of the available current is going
to the blower. By using a 15 amp circuit, we ensure the circuit is
capable of providing enough current to the motor. We use a GFCI (Ground
Fault Circuit Interrupter) because we want to ensure that you stay safe
in the unlikely case that the blower should short to ground. A GFCI
circuit detects the change in current when a short develops and trips
to prevent an electrical shock. GFCI outlets are common in bathrooms
and kitchens where water is nearby. Unless your wiring is very old, it
is typical that outside electrical outlets on most homes have a GFCI in
the circuit.
Q) What do we do if the blower stops working?
A) Firstly, you must remain calm and have everyone exit the inflatable.
Since the blower is no longer providing the positive pressure
maintaining the inflation, the unit will begin to gently deflate.
After you have ensured everyone is out or off of the inflatable, you can turn your attention to the problem.
• Is the blower running? If so
• Is there a kink in the blower supply tube?
• Did the blower come unplugged?
• Did it trip the circuit breaker?
Q) What happens if we damage/lose the inflatable or other equipment? A)
You are responsible for loss of possession and any damage beyond normal
wear and tear that happens to the items you have rented. If damage or
loss occurs, you agree to pay for the repair or replacement costs, and
loss of use costs. For your peace of mind, we offer an Optional Damage
Waiver.
Q)What is the Optional Damage Waiver?
A) This is not insurance. The rental customer is responsible for any
loss to the rented times and for their return in the same condition in
which they were received, except for ordinary wear and tear. However,
if the customer accepts and pays for this Optional Damage Waiver,
Harvard Happy Hop LLC agrees to waive our right to recover from the
rental customer the amount of the loss caused by unintentional damage.
Q) Will the inflatable damage my lawn?
A) We cannot guarantee that the rented inflatable will not affect your
lawn. Usually, the blades of grass are compressed and flattened that
are under the inflatable. The blades of grass usually recover and stand
back up after a few days. The tarps we put under every inflatable have
a two fold purpose. Firstly, they help protect the inflatable from any
objects that may be under them. Secondly, it helps to minimize any
damage that may occur to your lawn.
Q) Am I permitted to tip the delivery driver?
A) Tipping is permitted but is NOT REQUIRED.
Q) What if I have a problem and I need help? A) Firstly,
call us. If we are unable to resolve the issue over the phone, we will
come to back out to your event to resolve the problem.
